Newbie Barrington Bike Route

The usual club bike route is 38 or 55 miles, with portions of the route crossing busy intersections or on major streets. Here is the cue sheet an alternate 15-mile route that starts from Barrington High School, that is almost exclusively on quieter roads. Only the first portion leaving Barrington High School is on a major street, but is still fairly quiet. You may choose to do 1 or 2 loops of this route until you are comfortable enough to join the club rides which leave out of the forest preserve parking lot near Checker & Arlington Heights Roads in Buffalo Grove. As always, make sure to be careful of your surroundings and watch for cars, pedestrians, wildlife, and other cyclists when riding outdoors!

How to change a flat tire:

This is one of the most frequent questions newbies have. In triathlon you are responsible for fixing your own flat tires during a race. You may also need to do it in training. So, it’s a good skill to have. Here’s a great video from our sponsor Get A Grip that you can follow along. If you have a CO2 pump and you’ve never used it before you’ll want to practice with it before you really need it! Chrissie Wellington herself almost lost Kona because she didn’t get the CO2 into her flat tire!
